IFP has set the date for the 20th anniversary outing of its Gotham Independent Film Awards, with the ceremony skedded for Nov. 29 at Cipriani Wall Street.
Kudofest will include a new audience laurel, the Festival Genius Audience Award.
Eligible pics, which must have played a U.S. film fest between November 2009 and October 2010, will be voted on by Festival Genius’ network of festivalgoers and film enthusiasts.
Nominees for five of the night’s traditional categories remain to be announced, as does the lineup of industry folks to be honored with a tribute at the ceremony.
For the first time, eligible best feature contenders will include those that have gone directly from fests to digital platforms or pay TV, without a traditional theatrical run.
IFP also will partner again with the Museum of Modern Art for the Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You series of acclaimed fest pics that have not yet sealed a distribution deal.
