The Beaches of Agnes,” “The Cove,” “Food Inc.” and “Garbage Dreams are among the 15 finalists for the Oscar docu noms. Oscar noms will be announced Feb. 2.

Food Inc.” is the top grosser among the DGA finalists with $4.2 million, followed by “The Cove” with $861,946 and “Anvil” with $667,911. “Anvil” won the Intl. Documentary Assn.’s trophy in December.

The DGA trophy went to Ari Folman for “Waltz With Bashir” last year, while the Oscar went to James Marsh and Simon Chinn for “Man on Wire.”

The fine work of these talented nominees demonstrates why audiences are increasingly seeking out documentaries and why distributors are releasing more documentary films theatrically,” DGA president Taylor Hackford said.
