Warner Music Group tracks available through eMusic
Widening its online offerings, Warner Music Group has pacted with member-based digital download service eMusic to sell tracks from its catalog.The deal encompasses titles from WMG’s labels Atlantic, Warner Bros. and Rhino plus labels distributed through the company’s indie distributor Alternative Distribution Alliance not currently sold via eMusic. A similar association was announced last year between eMusic and Sony Music Entertainment. Stephen Bryan, senior VP of digital strategy and business development for WMG, said in a statement, “As a leader in the music industry’s transition to a predominantly digital music business, we have worked hard to encourage and support innovative partners and creative business models that offer our artists unique ways to reach their fans.” Originally an indie music-based operation, eMusic sells monthly membership packages on a sliding scale beginning at $11.99. The company offers single tracks for 40¢-50¢ and albums for as low as $6. Its catalog comprises more than 7.5 million tracks. Firm is owned by Dimensional Associates, private equity arm of JDS Capital Management.
