Teen books set for web series

Warner Premiere is moving forward with a web series version of Alloy Entertainment’s teen book series “The Clique,” penned by Lisi Harrison.

Series will feature new characters and adventures, with Justine Bateman and Jill Kushner handling scripting duties.

Peter Murrieta, an executive producer and showrunner on Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” will exec produce “The Clique” with FM78.tv partners Bateman and Kushner.

Alloy Entertainment is co-producing, with the company’s Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy also serving as exec producers. The two also produced last year’s “The Clique” pic that went straight to DVD and was also produced by Warner Premiere.

Property revolves around a group of wealthy girls who attend a private middle school and form an exclusive club called the Pretty Committee.”We see a world that doesn’t just begin where the books left off; it enhances, enriches and brings the characters, the story and the references into 2010,” Murrieta said of the web series. “By doing this, we’ll not only introduce a whole new audience to ‘The Clique,’ we’ll appeal to the original fans too.”

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution will make the series available through online retailers.
