Warner Bros. punches up 3D lineup

'Green Lantern,' 'Sucker Punch' added to growing list

Warner Bros. is adding two more projects to its growing portfolio of 3D films — “The Green Lantern” and Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch.”

“Green Lantern,” starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Martin Campbell, is heading into production in Louisiana with a June, 17, 2011, release date. “Sucker Punch,” starring Emily Browning as a teen confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, has completed principal photography and is set for a March 25, 2011, launch.

Snyder has experience with the 3D process. He helmed Warner’s “Legends of the Guardians” (formerly “Guardians of Ga’hoole”), a CG animated toon headed for stereoscopic 3D release in September.

Warners is in the process of converting “Clash of the Titans” and the first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” to stereoscopic 3D (S3D). Studio decided last month to convert “Titans” and moved the launch back a week to April 2, kicking off a flurry of release-date shifts.

Warners is also converting “Cats and Dogs 2” to 3D.

Prime Focus Group, the Indian-owned visual effects and post-production company with offices in Hollywood and around the globe, is performing the “Titans” conversion through its View-D conversion process. Stereo Pictures of South Korea is converting “Cats and Dogs 2.”

Studio did not announce the conversion vendor for “Sucker Punch” or whether “Green Lantern” will be converted, shot in 3D or a combination of both.
