Sesame Street is now on the Warner Bros. lot. At least when it comes to videogames.Warner Bros. Interactive has inked an exclusive multi-year deal with Sesame Workshop to develop and publish educational videogames for preschoolers based on “Sesame Street” and its characters. Sesame Workshop is the nonprofit org behind the “Sesame Street” brand. Game deal follows a multi-year homevid pact between WB and Sesame Workshop to start distribbing new and library “Sesame Street” titles on DVD, VOD and other distribution formats starting this year. Landing “Sesame Street” significant for WB as it builds its games biz. Outside of its Lego games franchise, it had few titles that appealed to a younger set, a growing segment thanks to the popularity of Nintendo’s Wii. And Sesame Workshop had yet to fully exploit its brand in games yet. With Warner Bros.’ capability to create and publish videogames and its ability to distribute and market home videos, together, we are able to deliver the ultimate ‘Sesame Street’ experience for families,” said Gary E. Knell, Sesame Workshop president and CEO.
