Scenes with human, robot scenes to make bakeoff
“I think the intention was that this is supposed to be a ride,” says vfx supervisor Scott Farrar. “It’s a battle movie but it’s still the reluctant hero, Sam, getting called into action. It’s a story about loyalty, friendship and revenge. It’s almost Hitchcockian.”
So Farrar will highlight scenes that show the digital robot characters interacting with the human actors.
“What are we trying to do, really? We’re trying to have interesting characters that deliver dialogue, that move the story along, and to make computer graphic images look as real as possible. And, hey, we get to do fun stuff like tear the pyramid of Giza to pieces. At the heart of it all, certainly for me, I’m still a kid that loves to see spectacle among all the other things, and that’s fun to work on.”
