Sonic partners with Sears on Web devices

Users to access content via embedded program

Sonic Solutions announced Monday their partnership with Sears Holdings to provide Hollywood entertainment on various Internet-connected devices. Through an embedded program on their TVs, Blu-ray Disc players and mobile phones, users will have access to streaming or downloadable content for rent or purchase. Titled “RoxioNow”, the platform will power digital entertainment delivery services for Sears and Kmart. No exclusive content deals have been made.

The multi-year agreement will offer a broad range of entertainment including next-day TV shows and new movies.

Sonic Solutions, based in Marin County, California, provides media to consumers through various applications, technologies and services.
