Conduit partners with Universal Music Group
Social gaming might just be the new musicvideo — at least if Conduit Labs has anything say about it. The social gaming company inked a deal with Universal Music Group to make its extensive library available through Conduit’s games.UMG’s catalog, which includes such artists as Kanye West and Lady Gaga, will be immediately accessible through Conduit’s already-released games, and the company plans to integrate the music into developing projects, as well. “We are still just absorbing the number of options available with a catalog this size and what we might be able to do with it in future games,” Conduit Labs CEO Nabeel Hyatt told Daily Variety. Conduit’s current games include Loudcrowd and Facebook-based Super Dance and Music Pets — all of which involve user interactivity with music. Hyatt sees the catalog license as new potential for the music industry, and he believes that social gaming has only begun to tap the possibilities for retooling traditional media.
