Playtone builds ‘Electric City’

Reliance Big forms pact on online toon

LONDON — Indian billionaire Anil Ambani’s Reliance Big Ent. has pacted with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone to produce “Electric City,” an Internet toon series, online social game and mobile application.

Conceived and written by Hanks, “Electric City” will look at the future of civilization, covering themes like energy consumption, freedom of information, crime and punishment.

Reliance’s gaming arm Zapak, which has seven million subscribers, will manage the project. Joshua Feldman and Bo Stevenson will co-produce.

Reliance has an existing development deal with Playtone.
