Microsoft’s hard sell

Party boosts search engine Bing

Microsoft wants people to use Bing! to search for online entertainment, and last week pumped up its search engine with the ability to play a large collection of full-length TV shows, songs and games directly from within the site.

The company is hoping some Hollywood connections will now promote that effort, and last Tuesday it brought out heavyhitters Kathryn Bigelow, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Todd Phillips, T-Bone Burnett, Matt Weiner, Microsoft VPs Phil Spencer and Yusuf Mehdi and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone to reflect on the state of the biz at a Celebration of Creative Minds panel hosted by Ryan Seacrest at the Soho House in West Hollywood. Attendees then made their way downstairs to Boa Steakhouse, where Ryan Phillippe and Zoe Saldana listened to Drake perform.
