While the iPad is the season’s hottest gift, the tech world is already looking toward the sequel – and the rumor mill suggests that a follow-up to the tablet could begin within the next 100 days.
Digitimes reports Foxconn Electronics factories will begin shipping the second generation iPad by the end of February 2011. That schedule would fit with a rumored April product launch.
Not surprisingly, Foxconn and Apple haven’t commented on the reports.
As for new features, you’ll have to pick a different grapevine for those – but the odds on favorite features include a FaceTime camera, gyroscope, thinner form factor and Retina display. In the meantime, the original iPad continues to sell big. In the fiscal fourth quarter, Apple sold 4.19 million of the devices.
