Fox's Gagliano honored with lifetime achievement award

Thursday’s Hollywood Post Alliance Awards gala at the Skirball Cultural Center meant wins for technological titans — namely “Alice in Wonderland,” “Avatar” and “Inception.”

Company 3 took two awards: Color Grading Using a DI Process — Feature Film for “Alice in Wonderland” and the same category for commercial with AT&T’s “Legends.”

Lee Smith took home the kudo for editing a feature film for “Inception.” Michael Hedges, Gilbert Lake, Brent Burge and Chris Ward of Park Road Post Production won sound in a feature film for “District 9,” and Erik Winquist, Robin Hollander, Erich Eder and Giuseppe Tagliavini of Weta Digital won compositing in a feature film for “Avatar.”

The HPA Awards follow a different schedule than most other awards; the period of eligibility for entries was from September 2009 to September 2010.

Special awards, which had been announced earlier, included the Lifetime Achievement Award for Ted Gagliano, president of 20th Century Fox Feature Post Production.

Awards were also given in the television and commerical categories.
