Duo to develop Blu-ray disc Java application software

Warner Bros. subsidiary Global Digital Media Xchange (GDMX), a compression and authoring house, announced a licensing agreement with Jargon Technologies aimed at developing Blu-ray disc Java application software.

The technology, which will launch later this month, is designed to provide advanced interactive Blu-ray disc production that is more cost effective and faster than existing methods. The code is written by Jargon; GDMX will handle testing.

“The challenges of creating rich, interactive functionality for Blu-ray disc titles (include) delivering complex programming, testing and evaluation of projects that require short production timelines,” said Zeevik Bar-Am, GDMX VP of business development. “Jargon has created a technology that will allow our team to author innovative projects… more efficiently and at a lower cost than ever before.”
