Will produce, distrib animated kids property

FremantleMedia Enterprises has come aboard to produce and distrib “Monsuno,” the new animated kids property from toymaker JAKKS Pacific and Dentsu Entertainment USA.

Project is the first for FremantleMedia’s children and family division since it was launched at MIPCOM last fall to get the company into an arena outside of the reality and game show fare like “American Idol.”

FME will handle distribution for “Monsuno” in all worldwide territories except for Asia and act as the master licensing agent. Dentsu will control the distribution and licensing for the brand in Asia. Dentsu’s Tokyo-based animation subsid Dentsu Tec will handle the toon work.

FME was attracted to “Monsuno” because “of the strong story developed by the creative studio known as ‘Man of Action’ (creators of the ‘Ben 10′ franchise and ‘Generator Rex’) and the great series potential we see for this unique property,” according to Sander Schwartz, exec VP and head of FME’s children and family entertainment division.

Producers plan to make 52 episodes of “Monsuno,” aimed at boys 6-11, as an action adventure where kids are imbued with the power to command and battle creatures with amazing destructive potential. JAKKS Pacific will produce action figures, gadgets and collectibles around the show.
