Comedy Central employs ‘Workaholics’

Network greenlights Mail Order Comedy project

Comedy Central has ordered a 10-episode first season of original comedy series “Workaholics,” developed over the past year from the online series “5thyear.”

Kevin Etten (“Scrubs”) will be showrunner of the series, premiering this summer and featuring Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Adam Devine of Mail Order Comedy. Troupe-mate Kyle Newacheck will direct several episodes.

“These guys have a unique comedic sensibility that they’ve applied to a very relatable experience — that delicate time between college and becoming a responsible adult,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s head of original programming and production. “For me, that period lasted for decades.”

Avalon Television and Gigapix Studios are producing. Other exec producers are Dominic Russo and Connor Pritchard; Etten; Avalon’s David Martin, Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner, and Gigapix’s David Pritchard (“Family Guy”).
