Panavision executive to retire

Romanoff ends 27-year run

Panavision veteran Andy Romanoff will be retiring on Friday, the company told staffers Tuesday.

Romanoff, who is exec veep of technical marketing, has been with the camera and equipment supplier for 27 years. He left to start Louma LA, which Panavison acquired in 1997 and re-branded as Panavision Remote Systems.

During his time at the company, Romanoff invented and patented improvements to remote heads and cranes and led the Remote Systems brand for seven years.

He is an ASC associate and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, where he served on the Sci-Tech Awards committee.

“After 50 years of working nonstop, I’m ready to take a break and figure out what I want to do next,” Romanoff said.

No replacement has been announced. Panavision’s technical marketing team will report to chief operating officer John Suh in the interim.
