Will form partnership for DVDs and digital media
Technicolor and Warner Bros. will be joining forces in a strategic partnership for DVDs and digital media.
Pact comes after the announcement that Warner Home Video Inc. is ending its contract with Cineram, its current DVD and Blu-ray disc manufacturer.
While the Technicolor partnership will focus on the replication and distribution services for DVDs and Blu-ray discs, the companies plan to also take their collaboration into digital media with a focus on future projects like 3D, technology standardization and licensing programs.
Union follows Technicolor’s recent corporate relaunch.
“I see this as a very strong endorsement of the relaunch of Technicolor,” said Fred Rose, CEO of Technicolor. “It’s a great start to the year showing that we are here and that we are a leader in the technical services of the movie industry, whether it is in digital or physical media.”
