Meyers in tune with Band Pro

Munich unit nabs new director of production engineering

Fred Meyers, who recently worked on George Lucas’ independent feature “Red Tails,” is joining Burbank-based film technology and equipment shingle Band Pro as director of production engineering for the company’s Band Pro Munich unit.

Meyers, who helped build ILM’s video engineering department before leaving the company in 2006, is available for on-set consultation or to create workflow for productions.

While at ILM and Lucasfilm Meyers led special projects such as the development of 24P high-def video workflow that enabled “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” to be the first major motion picture shot, posted, mastered and released using an HD pipeline.

He also led pipeline refinements by introducing 4:4:4 camera and recording systems on “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”
