Barney Frank Chides Kathy Griffin for Scott Brown Quip

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) has condemned Kathy Griffin’s comment last week calling Sen. Scott Brown’s daughters “prostitutes.”

Frank wrote to Griffin, “I was particularly disappointed in the terrible comment you made about Sen. Scott Browns daughters. I think it’s possible to have fun, and even to poke fun at people in my business, without this kind of completely unfair attack,” Frank wrote.

Griffin made the comment on her Bravo series “My Life on the D-List” last week. Brown chided the comic and said that his family should be off limits.

Frank, who was a guest star on the Bravo episode, posted the letter to his congressional website.

It reads: “Having agreed to go on your show, I was particularly disappointed in the terrible comment you made about Scott Brown’s daughters. I think it’s possible to have fun, and even to poke fun at people in my business, without this kind of completely unfair attack. And while I don’t usually feel compelled to comment on what various entertainers do, since you did include me in the show I wanted to make it very clear that I thought what you did was wholly unfair and inappropriate. It’s the kind of think that makes it less likely that I or others can cooperate with you in the future.”

Bravo added a disclaimer to Griffin’s comment. But she Tweeted last night, “haha,Scott Brown is the Spencer Pratt of the US Senate.THIS is a great time 2 come c me live. OF COURSE I’m lovin all the publicity LOVIN IT.”

Update: Griffin’s producer Danny Salles explains who had a sense of humor and who didn’t. Frank did not, and in the episode, looks a bit exasperated that Griffin is taking up his time.
