Roundup & Recap: Michelle Obama’s “Secret” Trip to L.A.

There’s been very little attention, until now, to the Los Angeles visit of First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia. They’ve been to Lucques, Pizzeria Mozza and Pinks, in what the Los Angeles Times characterizes as tracking by Twitter.

Neda Agha Soltan HBO showed its documentary “For Neda” several times on Voice of America’s
Persian News Network in an effort to get it seen in Iran. The project debuted on Monday, but the cabler allowed it to be shown beforehand. Writer producer Antony Thomas tells the AP: “I didn’t want these brave people who came out on the streets and risked
their lives so courageously to feel that the world had moved on and
it’s been forgotten.”

George Clooney has been accepted for a life membership in the Council on Foreign Relations, joining other Hollywood figures such as Michael Douglas and Warren Beatty. Per the Daily Beast, Clooney says, “I’m honored to have been nominated. I look forward to
participating in the work and programs of the Council on Foreign
Relations. And I hear the initiation ritual is wild.”
