From the day that Sarah Palin resigned as governor of Alaska, the most likely prospect for her future endeavors was Fox News.
So as a deal was announced today that she will be a regular commentator, the question is, what took so long?
Obviously, a book tour, speeches, Facebook posts and other appearances kept her in the public eye, and a Fox News gig will make it all the easier. But as much as this may look like a perfect fit, she also has to come through, and the transition from politics to punditry isn’t always meant for everyone, even someone as telegenic and familiar as Palin. (Bob Dole and Bill Clinton, for example, never really worked in their “60 Minutes” point-counterpoint segments.) The true test may be with breaking stories, and if she is able to excel at sponteneity to the same degree that she has been able to draw headlines with her online posts.
