The Prop 8 trial will get its YouTube coverage — via plans to reenact testimony by filmmaker John Ireland. The first day of testimony is scheduled to start on Tuesday, with actors apparently working overtime (and perhaps overnight?) to get it all posted to YouTube in a timely fashion.
Meanwhile, here’s a column that ran in this week’s weekly Variety, about the P.R. and marketing strategy that’s been taking place outside the courtroom. There’s been a degree of savviness on both sides of Perry vs. Schwarzenegger, although there’s little doubt that the teaming of Ted Olson and David Boies has very much helped the plaintiffs command attention and shape the story. Plus, it probably doesn’t help the defendants’ media image by petitioning the Supreme Court (successfully) to limit media access to the trial.
