South Asian network Zee is bowing two original series in the U.S. On Aug. 13, the network will kick off a new season of singing competish “Sa re ga ma pa Singing Superstar.” Judges are Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, plus composing duos Vishal-Shekhar and Sajid-Wajid.
On July 12 the net launched original series “Mera naam karegi roshan” nightly Sunday through Wednesday. Skein centers around a woman who overcomes Indian traditions in a male-dominated society.
In addition, Zee TV has started an interactive campaign to get public input to name and market another show, a love story starring “Dance India Dance” alums Iqbal Khan and Binny Sharma.
