Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams on board
MADRID — Marion Cotillard and Rachel McAdams are in final negotiations to star in Woody Allen’s untitled pic that rolls this summer in Paris. With Cotillard (“Nine”) and McAdams (“Sherlock Holmes”) on board, the pieces are falling into place for the Woody Allen Summer Project, as the production is known. Owen Wilson is already set. France’s first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been talked up for a cameo role for months, but still hasn’t confirmed. Pic, which rolls early July, is a part-period, part-contempo comedy that Allen attempted to shoot in Paris in 2006, but abandoned as the city is too expensive. Since then Allen has come into money thanks to a three-pic financing deal between his Gravier Prods. and Spanish media conglom Mediapro, which co-produced his “Vicky, Cristina Barcelona” in 2006. The pact kicked off with “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” and follows on with the Paris pic. Sweetening the deal, France’s Centre National du Cinema film introduced a tax break offering foreign shoots 20% reimbursement on most of their Gallic spend in December. “WASP” received an award in February’s funding round. That, according to producer Letty Aronson, was the Paris-shoot clincher. Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger,” starring Anthony Hopkins, Brolin, Naomi Watts and Antonio Banderas, has been discussed as a possible entry in the Cannes Film Fest, but Sony Pictures Classics described those reports as “speculative.”
