Voices carry 3D ‘Moomins’

Stellan, Alexander Skarsgard to voice animated pic

Father and son thesps Stellan and Alexander Skarsgard plus Peter Stormare will voice the lead characters in the English-lingo version of “Moomins and the Comet Chase,” the first Nordic 3D toon feature.

Pic, helmed by Maria Lindberg and produced by Tom Carpelan for Finland’s Filmkompaniet, is a follow up to 2008’s “Moomin and Midsummer Madness.”

Both toons are based on the books and cartoon strips created by Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson in 1945 about the Moomins, a family of trolls who resemble white hippos.

Much beloved in Europe, the books have been translated into more than 40 languages, and the adventures of the Moomins have been turned into films, TV series, legit plays and radio shows.

Toon is due for a fall release.
