Restored version of Fellini's 'The Clowns' set for disc

Italian DVD label Rarovideo has inked its first U.S. distrib deal, with plans to release restored Italian classics on DVD via Entertainment One.

Rarovideo’s Stateside division, formed this year by Stefano and Gianluca Curti and Nico Bruinsma of Cult Epics, plans to team with the Italo branch to launch such digitally remastered pics as Federico Fellini’s 1970 classic “The Clowns” and “The Fernando Di Leo Crime Collection,” featuring Di Leo’s celebrated “Milieu Trilogy.”

Fellini’s “The Clowns” kicks off the U.S. rollout on Feb. 22. Set includes an exclusive short from Fellini, as well as a video essay on the film’s genesis and a 40-page booklet with Fellini drawings.The homevid distrib’s Di Leo collection, which includes a four-disc DVD set with pics “Caliber 9,” “The Italian Connection” and “The Boss,” is also set to hit shelves Feb. 22.

Entertainment One is handling distrib rights for both Rarovideo U.S. and Cult Epics.
