Matthew Hope directs gritty war pic
LONDON — Brit thesp Toby Kebbell is set to star in gritty war pic “The Veteran.”
Matthew Hope will direct the pic, which will shoot over six weeks in London and at Elstree Studios from June 28.
Kebbell, who has had roles in Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla” and Ian Curtis biopic “Control,” joins thesps Brian Cox (“The Bourne Identity”), Ashley Thomas (“4,3,2,1”), Tom Brooke (“The Young Victoria”) and Adi Bielski.
Hope penned the script with former SAS counter-terrorism specialist Robert Henry Craft and Adam Tysoe.
Story follows a soldier who returns to the U.K. from Afghanistan and finds it hard to adapt back to normal life.
Kebbell will be seen next in Robert Redford’s “The Conspirator” and opposite Nicolas Cage in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” helmed by Jon Turteltaub.
Finance for the pic is via private equity through Premiere Picture and Lipsync Productions.
Kim Leggatt and Debbie Shuter will produce through DMK Productions, in which Hope is also a partner.
