Film fest begins on Aug. 26
Bertrand Tavernier’s “The Princess of Montpensier” will close the 34th Montreal World Film Festival on Sept. 6.
The Gallic helmer will be at the fest to present his pic, a love story set against France’s religious wars between Catholics and Protestants in the mid-1500s.
MWFF prexy Serge Losique said, “Bertrand Tavernier is not only a great director, he is a living encyclopedia of the cinema, a man who embodies the full meaning of cineaste.”
“The Princess of Montpensier” stars Lambert Wilson and Melanie Thierry. Axia Films is distributing the film in Canada, which is scheduled to be released in early 2011.
The fest begins Aug. 26.
