Wesley Snipes won’t be going to jail quite so soon, a U.S. District Court ruled on Monday.
Snipes, who was found guilty of tax evasion in 2008, was granted an emergency stay by a judge of the Middle District of Florida. The actor was scheduled to surrender to a U.S. Marshal Sept. 2 to begin serving a three-year sentence.
Counsel for the United States agreed to the stay, which does not include a new date for Snipes’ surrender. The court ordered that several pending motions in the case must be ruled on before a new date may be set.
