Lopez was a lawyer to Michael Jackson
Entertainment attorney Peter Lopez died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds on Friday in Encino, Calif, according to coroner’s office operations chief Craig Harvey. He was 60.
Lopez, husband of “Dukes of Hazzard” thesp Catherine Bach, repped singers Michael Jackson, Andrea Bocelli and Michael Buble among various showbizzers.
He was a founding member of the Los Angeles law firm of Kleinberg Lopez Lange Cuddy and Klein. The law firm issued a statement saying, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the unexpected loss of our friend and partner, Peter Lopez.”
After graduating from UCLA Law School, Lopez began an entertainment law career that included representation of prominent American and international stars in music, film and television.
He had an interest in the emerging Latin entertainment business and was instrumental in improving the deals made for Latin stars.
He was also one of the producers of the biopic “Selena.”
Besides Bach, survivors include two daughters.
