Deal covers German-, Italo-lingo territories

PARIS — Shine Group and Zodiak Rights, the conglom’s rebranded distribution arm, have teamed up to adapt each other’s formats in German- and Italo-lingo territories.

Deal gives Shine and Zodiak’s format specialist, Magnolia, first-look rights to all factual and entertainment formats except kids’ shows for shows in the countries where they don’t have a presence.

So Shine Germany will have the option to produce Zodiak formats, including “Deal with It” and “Are You Fitter than a Pensioner,” for German-speaking territories. Magnolia will gain access to Shine’s catalog, which features hits such as “MasterChef,” “The Biggest Loser” and “Got to Dance,” for Italian-language territories.

Each company will get a co-production credit on shows resulting from this deal.

The rights holder of each program will handle distribution, with Shine Intl. selling Italian-lingo territories and Zodiak Rights handling German territories.

Pact follows an exclusive format output deal made earlier this year between Shine Australia and Zodiak Rights.
