Cannes proved busy for new Spanish indie
New Spanish indie distrib Savor-Emon has inked all rights to two star-driven films — helmer George Ratliff’s comedy-thriller “Salvation Boulevard” and Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut “Coriolanus.”
Produced by Mandalay Entertainment Group’s indie film company Mandalay Vision, “Salvation Boulevard” adapts the novel of the same title by U.S. author Larry Beinhart.
Cast includes Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly, with Brosnan playing a corrupt evangelist who’s seen committing a crime by one of his staunchest supporters (Kinnear).
Savor-Emon inked “Boulevard” rights with sales agent Arclight Films.
Sold internationally by Icon Entertainment Intl., “Coriolanus” is Fiennes’ contemporary version of Shakespeare’s political thriller. Screenplay was adapted by John Logan. Now in post, “Coriolanus” stars Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and James Nesbitt.
Savor-Emon will release “Boulevard” and “Coriolanus” in Spanish theaters next year.
Both acquisitions confirm Savor-Emon as one of the most active local mainstream distributors at the recent Cannes market.
