Russia’s CTC launches in Israel

Russian speakers are 13% of the population

MOSCOW — Russia’s leading independent television network CTC is to launch its international channel in Israel.

CTC-International — which began broadcasting in the U.S. last December — will now be available to Russian-speaking satellite and cable subscribers in Israel.

The channel will be distributed in a two year non-exclusive deal on the Yes satellite platform and the HOT cable network, which have a combined 120,000 Russian-speaking subscribers.

CTC-International is a 24 hour a day family entertainment channel that broadcasts most of its programming from CTC, Domashny and DTV channels.

Israel has a high penetration of cable and satellite with around one million Russian speakers — 13% of the country’s population — and a pay TV market worth an estimated $230 million last year.
