Ozpetek comedy screened at Berlin fest

MADRID — Eric Lagesse’s Pyramide has taken French rights to comedy ensembler “Mine vaganti” (Loose Cannons).

The latest film from Turkish-Italian helmer Ferzan Ozpetek (“A Perfect Day,” “Saturn in Opposition”), “Cannons” screened in the Berlinale Panorama in February.

Produced by Domenico Procacci’s Italian shingle Fandango, and sold by the London-based Fandango Portobello, “Cannons” opened in Italy March 8 to an upbeat first-three-week take of E6 million ($8.1 million).

“Cannons” toplines Riccardo Scamarcio (“Eden Is West”) as a gay son who still has to come out to his family, a rural clan that runs a family pasta business.

Pyramide will release “Cannons” July 14 in France on 60-100 copies.
