New holding unit aims to beef up o'seas biz

In an effort to beef up its international activities, pan-European broadcasting group ProSiebenSat.1 has set up holding unit Red Arrow Entertainment Group to house existing production and distribution subsidiaries and newly acquired assets.

Red Arrow plans to acquire and launch TV production companies around the world, develop partnerships with creative talent and invest in formats and scripted shows with strong international appeal and sales potential.

The group currently broadcasts across 12 countries.

Red Arrow’s assets include production companies Producers at Work, Magic Flight Film and Redseven Entertainment, talent agency Redseven Artists and sales unit SevenOne Intl.

A recent partnership deal with Dick de Rijk and another between Redseven Entertainment and Phil Gurin will also fall under Red Arrow’s umbrella.

The group expects the first additions to the portfolio within six months.

Jan Frouman will head Red Arrow as managing director along with group directors Jens Richter (international distribution), Michael Schmidt (creative operations and business development) and John Jongerden (finance and operations).

Richter will retain his role as managing director of SevenOne Intl., while Frouman will also continue as exec VP of group content acquisitions at ProSiebenSat.1.
