Indian post house Prime Focus has announced a major expansion of its 3D facilities in Hollywood, Mumbai and London.
In its Hollywood facility, Prime Focus is building 200 artist seats and has upgraded its post infrastructure to 3D-enabled spaces that will support RealD and Dolby stereo projection. Plans are underway to add a 45-seater 3D screening room.
The facility has hired Jeremy Nicolaides (“Alice in Wonderland”) as stereoscopic supervisor.
The company’s new 65,000 square foot headquarters in Mumbai is due to open shortly. It will house seven 3D theaters and 600 artist seats.
And at its London facility, the company has installed a 2D-to-3D conversion pipeline and is expanding its space to accommodate an extra 200 visual effects artists.
“This comes in response to the growing demand from our clients for high-quality 3D content,” said Prime Focus CEO Namit Malhotra. “Our global expansion will give us the capacity to support many more projects simultaneously.”
