LONDON — Hayden Phillips has been tapped as chairman of the Digital Funding Partnership, the vehicle to support digitization of small- and medium-sized cinemas in Blighty.
Phillips, former permanent secretary at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport from 1992 to 1998, will lead the partnership’s efforts to overcome the financial and political challenges faced in digitizing community cinemas.
Phillips is also chair of the National Theater, independent reviewer of the adjudications of the Advertising Standards Authority, a non-executive director of a number of companies and chairman of Marlborough College.
He was permanent secretary of the Lord Chancellor’s Department from 1998 to 2004. Prior to that, he held senior positions in the U.K. government and the European Commission.
