‘Phillip Morris’ delayed (again)

McGregor-Carrey film delayed

The Jim Carrey-Ewan McGregor starrer “I Love You Phillip Morris” isn’t getting much love these days.

Dark comedy’s theatrical release has been pushed back from April 30 to July 30. Consolidated Pictures Group is distributing the film.

Despite its top star billing, “Phillip Morris” has been plagued with distribution distress since premiering at Sundance in 2009, largely because of the film’s challenging subject matter.

From “Bad Santa” scribes Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, “Phillip Morris” tells the story of a married con man (Carrey) who falls in love with his cellmate (McGregor). Pic is based on the life of con man/artist Steven Jay Russell.

“Phillip Morris” will open in a limited run, and begin expanding on Aug. 6.
