Paris-based 2.4.7. Films’ Marc-Antoine Robert and Xavier Rigault (“Persepolis”) are set to produce helmer Yann Samuell’s “With or Without You.”
The $12 million romantic comedy is based on David Foenkinos’ novel “Nos separations” about a romance that turns sour. Samuell is writing the screenplay.
Samuell had a promising debut with 2003’s “Love Me If You Dare,” starring Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard, which took $8.2 million at the Gallic B.O.
The helmer has just wrapped Sophie Marceau starrer “L’age de raison.” Pic’s remake rights have been picked up by Brent Emery’s L.A.-based Coup d’Etat.
Samuell is currently lensing family adventure “The Great Ghost Rescue” based on Eva Ibbotson’s children’s book.
Robert and Rigault are also developing Foenkinos’ first directorial effort based on his book, “La delicatesse.” The $6.1 million romantic drama turns on an unexpected relationship that develops between a recently widowed woman and a seemingly ordinary man who charms her.
Also on 2.4.7. Films’ development slate is “Rock the Casbah,” a $6 million romantic comedy, which will be directed by first-time helmer Xavier Daugreilh. Franco-Tunisian thesp Sami Bouajila (“Outside of the Law”) will topline.
Daugreilh is a French playwrite whose play, “Sans mentir” (Without Lying), nabbed a Moliere award in 2007.
Lensing will kick off in Paris in the fall.
At Cannes, 2.4.7. Films have Un Certain Regard title “Simon Werner a disparu” (“Lights Out”), directed by first-timer Fabrice Gobert, about a teenager’s disappearance.
The suspenser is the only French pic in Un Certain Regard and the only film by a debut helmer.
