Turkish producer gets nod for European co-productions
Rome– Turkish producer Zeynep Ozbatur, whose recent credits include pluri-prized pics “Three Monkeys” and “Climates,” both by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, is the winner of the Prix Eurimages nod for European co-productions.
Ozbatur was chosen – even though Turkey is not not a full-fledged EU–member country – for “always joining forces with European companies to develop and promote European cinema,” Eurimages said in an statement released on Saturday during the Rome Film Festival.
“Three Monkeys,” which took the Cannes Best Director nod in 2008, was a three-way co-production between her Istanbul-based Zeyno Film shingle, Gaul’s Pyramide, and Italy’s BIM Distribuzione.
Ozbatur, who is 44 and is also involved in training young Turkish producers, will receive the prestigious prize, now at its fifth edition, during the European Film Awards, in Tallinn, Estonia, on December 4.
