PARIS — Cannes competish title “On Tour,” which drew the director nod for French thesp-turned-helmer Mathieu Amalric, has been picked up in key European territories.
Repped by Paris’ distribution and sales company Le Pacte, the comedy follows the highs and lows of an American burlesque troupe on tour in Gaul.
Nomad Film took Italian rights and pic was also acquired for the U.K., although the distrib’s identity has yet to be disclosed.
Pic has already been acquired in Portugal (Clap Filmes), Switzerland (Agora), Benelux (Victory) and a slew of Eastern European territories.
“On Tour,” which is produced by Paris-based outfit Les Films du Poisson, has benefited from its warm reception at Cannes, taking $237,933 on its June 30 French bow.
A low-budget artpic, “On Tour” was the second best-performing film on its release day. “Shrek Forever After” took first slot.
