Estonian film “The Temptation of St Tony,” helmed by Veiko Ounpuu, has been sold to Chicago-based Olive Films for U.S. distribution.
Deal was negotiated by new Danish sales company LevelK, headed by Tine Klint, formerly at TrustNordisk.
Pic, about a mid-level manager trying to come to grips with a string of emotional problems, has been described as “a parable on the new, wolf-like capitalism in Eastern Europe with its compassionless capitalist rules and rulers.” It was the first Estonian film to be screened at Sundance, and last Sunday it closed the Gothenburg fest. It was also selected for this year´s VRPO Tiger Awards at Rotterdam.
Pic is in the market at the Berlinale.
