Norris set to direct ‘Country Girl’

Shaw, Seagrove star in Odets' show

Rufus Norris will helm a new production of Clifford Odets’ drama “The Country Girl” in the West End this fall. Unrelated to Mike Nichols’ revival that played Gotham in 2008, play is being produced by Bill Kenwright, will star Martin Shaw and Jenny Seagrove and previews at the Apollo on Oct. 6 ahead of an Oct. 11 opening.

The show will immediately follow the recently extended run of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” directed by Howard Davies and produced by Sonia Friedman and Kim Poster, which has won rave notices.

Friedman is in rehearsals with a London production of “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” starring Jeff Goldblum and Mercedes Ruehl. The show, opening July 13 at the Vaudeville, is helmed by Terry Johnson. He and Friedman won Tonys for their revival of “La Cage aux Folles.”
