Nigel Lythgoe will deliver the keynote address at the first Intl. Formats Forum in Beijing on Nov. 11.The “American Idol” exec and co-creator of “So You Think You Can Dance” will receive the IFF grand prize for excellence in worldwide formats and present an award to the winner of the China formats competition. “It is a great honor for me to be directly involved in the raising of the formats industry in China,” Lythgoe said. “I believe ‘American Idol’ can … inspire young Chinese creators to reach for the highest standards in creating new formats in the years to come thanks to IFF China.” The two-day confab is designed to improve the skills of Chinese formats creatives. Reps from state broadcaster CCTV and the 22 regional TV stations are expected to attend.
