The NAACP will fete Tyler Perry with its chairman’s award for his achievements and his commitment to public service.
He is set to receive the honor during the 41st NAACP Image Awards, to be held Feb. 26 at the Shrine Auditorium.
Perry, who has written, directed and starred in numerous pics including “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” “Madea Goes to Jail” and “Daddy’s Little Girls,” is also nominated for Image kudos in the categories of writing in a motion picture for his “Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself” and comedy series for TBS’ “House of Payne.”
Perry has been involved with numerous charities including Feeding America, Covenant House, Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless and Perry Place. In 2009 he donated $1 million to the NAACP and recently donated $1 million via the Tyler Perry Foundation to aid victims of the Haiti earthquake.
