MPA aids filmmakers in Asia Pacific

Four members of the APSA Academy will get funding

The Motion Picture Assn. Asia Pacific and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards have set up a new initiative to support filmmakers in the region called the MPA APSA Academy Film Fund.

The fund will be granted to four members of the APSA Academy, an influential body of filmmakers comprised of past APSA nominees, winners, jury and nominations council members.

The inaugural recipients will be selected by a panel of industry experts and announced at the 4th APSA Ceremony to be held on Queensland’s Gold Coast in Australia on Dec. 2.

The fund was announced by Queensland treasurer Andrew Fraser at the Shanghai Film Festival.
