MILAN — Italo Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Mediaset broadcast group is launching a free digital terrestrial channel on May 12 aimed at women aged 15 to 40.
La5 will air films and TV series and spin-offs from hits such as “Big Brother,” said Mediaset’s content chief Alessandro Salem, adding that Mediaset will bow a similar channel for young men by the end of the year. The group’s rolling news channel is also due before 2011. Meanwhile, the move to digital TV in Italy continues, with the major region of Lombardy and parts of neighboring Piemonte due to switch over on May 18.
