Manslaughter charge in Jackson case

Prosecutors to file criminal complaint against doctor

Discovery Communications announced Friday that it would postpone indefinitely the special “Michael Jackson’s Autopsy: What Really Killed Michael Jackson,” which was scheduled to air Jan. 13 in the U.K.

Discovery cited the ongoing criminal case against Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, as well as protests from the singer’s estate, as reasons for the postponement.

The program was purported to be a re-enactment of the deceased singer’s autopsy. It sparked protests from fans, as well as a letter of condemnation from Jackson’s estate co-executors John G. Branca and John McClain.

In a statement, Branca and McClain said they “are pleased that the Discovery Channel made the correct decision to cancel” the program. “We are hopeful that this show will never run in any market in the future.”

Preliminary hearings in the case of involuntary manslaughter against Murray are scheduled to begin Tuesday.
