'Games,' 'Builder' on tap for fall

A legit version of David Mamet’s 1987 movie “House of Games” will kick off the fall season at London’s Almeida Theater, where a new staging of Ibsen play “The Master Builder,” toplined by Stephen Dillane, is also on the slate.

Richard Bean pens the new stage adaptation of “House,” to be helmed by Lindsay Posner and designed by Peter McKintosh. The production previews from Sept. 6 for a Sept. 16 opening, with casting yet to be announced.

Next up is “Master Builder” helmed by Travis Preston, a.d. of the Center for New Performance at Cal Arts. Dillane will play the title role in a translation by Kenneth McLeish. Designed by Vicki Mortimer, the production begins previews Nov. 12, two months after a rival staging of the play, in a new version by David Edgar, opens at the regional venue Chichester Festival Theater.
